DesignWorkshop is a user-friendly, design-oriented 3D CAD application tailored for architectural design. Artifice, Inc. was founded to provide an effective, organizational structure, accountable to the marketplace, for delivering DesignWorkshop to professional and academic audiences with full-service technical support.

DesignWorkshop is in use across the U.S. and around the world, by thousands of users in architecture and design firms of all sizes, and in schools from K-12 through university.

This software also represents the approximate embodiment in a new-media design tool of a broad and inclusive humanistic philosophy of architecture, forged and tested in the intensive environment of the Oregon computer-integrated design studios.

The award-winning DesignWorkshop user-interface represents my most fundamental work in design-oriented computer tools for architect. It provides click-and-drag 3D direct-manipulation with a live 3D crosshair, together with extreme command simplification by means of feedback from feature-based solid geometry into the immediate state of the graphical user-interface.

For the original intellectual basis of DesignWorkshop, please see my Master's Project from 1988, "Three-Dimensional Sketching".
