Desktop Lighting Simulation - Final Questions

1. Review using a full face texture from DesignWorkshop in a Radiance rendering.

First, translate your original texture image into Radiance .pic format:

http://www.artifice.com/radiance/rad_notes.html

Then, duplicate an entire tiling texture material from the "dw.mat" file, and set the "-s #" option on the second line of the "colorpict" tiling function so the # equals the larger dimension of the object face you want to tile onto.

# Generic_Full_Face Example for a 75 foot wide three story facade
void colorpict Generic_Full_Face.map

2. How to estimate surface reflectance?

See Rendering with Radiance p290-292, Section 5.1.3, "Estimating Average Surface Reflectance and Transmittance."

3. How to make materials shiny or not?

See illustration of effects of Radiance specularity and roughness values, http://www.artifice.com/radiance/rad_specularity.jpg.
